Students under the age of 7 who start Judo with no or little experience begin in this program. The focus of this program is to teach children to fall safely, learn basic Japanese commands, and basic Judo customs. Children in this program will also begin to learn basic Judo techniques, and generally attend one class per week.
Students who have achieved promotion to Yellow stripes(up to five stripes), or yellow belt, move to this program. Children in Recreational Judo focus on the continued development of basic Judo techniques, terminology and Judo customs. Students may choose to stay at this level past yellow belt if they are more comfortable in a non-competitive environment. At the yellow belt level, students will begin to learn more advanced and technically challenging Judo techniques. Students in this program generally attend one to two times per week.
